In response to reports in international media regarding damages to Phra Viharn Temple, which the Cambodian side claims to have resulted from Thailand’s military operations, and which the Royal Thai Army has already clarified to refute such claims,

Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wishes to further reaffirm that the actions of the Royal Thai Government, including the Royal Thai Armed Forces, are always taken with due regard to the laws of Thailand, international law, and internationally-accepted principles. Military operations to safeguard Thailand’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are only undertaken towards clearly-identified military targets.

The Spokesperson also wishes to reassure that Thailand does not have a policy to attack civilian areas, including sites of historical importance, nor to use them as bases for military operations.
