H.E. Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, is scheduled to pay a visit to Thailand as guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during 7-8 January 2020. In the afternoon of 7 January 2020, H.E. Mr. Motegi will have a meeting with H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, and will pay a courtesy call on H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand. 
 
H.E. Mr. Motegi assumed the position of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan on 11 September 2019. Previously, he was a Minister in the Cabinet of Japan in charge of economic and fiscal policies, human resources development, and economic revitalisation as well as negotiation of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). This visit will be the first visit by H.E. Mr. Motegi to Thailand since assuming the office of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, as a part of the introductory visit to the governments of Southeast Asia and to enhance relations between Japan and countries in Southeast Asia. During this visit to Southeast Asia, he will visit to Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia, respectively.
