Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, organized the Thai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City from 23 - 25 May 2025 at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House. The event was held under the theme “Creative Thailand”, aiming to reflect Thailand’s progressive, modern, and creative image, strengthen people-to-people relations between Thailand and Vietnam, and drive economic diplomacy and Thailand’s creative industries on the global stage.
This year’s festival placed strong emphasis on promoting various sectors of Thailand’s creative industries, particularly music, film, drama, and TV series, which have great potential to reach broad Vietnamese audiences. These sectors also serve as a gateway for promoting other creative industries more seamlessly.
The festival featured a wide range of activities, including: 48 exhibition booths from Thai government agencies and private sector organizations Thai food and products, demonstrations and performances of Thai cultural arts such as Muaythai, traditional Thai dance, and fashion shows, a Thai film talk session with leading Thai actor Boy (Pakorn Chatborirak), star of the movie “FLAT girls,” as well as music performances, fan meet-and-greet activities and interviews with famous artists such as Golf F.HERO, The Hotel Lobby, the boy band PROXIE, and actors from GMMTV including Nanon (Korapat Kirdpan), Zee (Dechchart Tasilp) and Keen (Suvijak Piyanopharoj), who received an overwhelmingly positive response from the Vietnamese audience.
The event received strong support from the Vietnamese side. The opening ceremony, presided over by Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul-General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, was honored by the attendance of Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thúy, Deputy Director-General of Deparment Culture and Sport of Ho Chi Minh City, along with Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, representatives from the Vietnamese government, Team Thailand agencies, Thai entrepreneurs, and a large crowd of Thai and Vietnamese people.
The Thai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City serves as a key mechanism under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ cultural diplomacy and public diplomacy, aimed at promoting mutual understanding between people and supporting Thailand’s creative industries on the global stage in alignment with the government’s policy. In 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with partner agencies, is organizing Thai Festivals in 45 cities across 32 countries worldwide.
