On 26 June 2024, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, discussed with H.E. Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand.
 
Both sides discussed ways to promote more high-level engagements and enhance cooperation, including on peace and security, cyber security, clean energy, tourism, education, and people-to-people ties, including cooperation at the regional level, particularly with ASEAN. The Canadian side also congratulated Thailand on the passing of the Same-Sex Marriage Act, as well as welcomed Thailand’s efforts to promote gender equality and to empower women’s role in peace and security.
