On 20 October 2025, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, co-chaired the 2nd Indo-Pacific Strategic Dialogue between Thailand and Australia with Dr Alexandra Siddall, Acting First Assistant Secretary, Geostrategy and Partnership Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, at the Ministry.
Thailand emphasized steadfast commitment to multilateralism and international order amidst the decline of multilateral mechanisms. Thailand also underlined the readiness to enhance practical cooperation and constructive engagement with Australia under the context of the current heightened major powers’ competition, as well as under existing Thailand’s active role and ASEAN-led mechanisms in Southeast Asian region, Mekong sub-region and the South Pacific region.
This Dialogue is one of the activities under the Strategic Partnership between Thailand and Australia. The meeting provides a venue for both sides to exchange perspectives on the evolving international strategic developments and its impacts on in the Indo-Pacific region and situations in Asia Pacific, as well as to explore meaningful ways how Thailand and Australia as Strategic Partners can deepen their cooperation.
