On 4 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Dusit Manapan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, led the Thai delegation to the 2nd Thailand–Myanmar–China Coordination Meeting on Combating Telecommunications Fraud in Nay Pyi Taw, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Aung Kyaw Kyaw, Deputy Union Minister of Home Affairs of Myanmar. The Chinese delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Liu Zhongyi, Assistant Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China. The Thai delegation included representatives from the Office of the National Security Council, the Royal Thai Police, the Royal Thai Armed Forces, and the Royal Thai Army.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the three countries to join forces in combating telecommunications fraud, with the goal of protecting their people and safeguarding the region.
The meeting agreed that the relevant authorities will strengthen law enforcement coordination, enhance the efficiency of the exchange of information, and expand joint investigations to facilitate the arrest and prosecution of offenders. These efforts aim to address and tackle transboundary crime in a more systematic and effective manner. The cooperation is expected to extend further to other neighboring countries in the region.
This meeting built upon the outcomes of the 1st Coordination Meeting, held in Thailand on 28 February 2025, which marked the beginning of joint collaboration between Thailand, Myanmar, and China in combating and preventing transboundary crime—particularly telecommunications fraud and online scams, which continue to pose serious challenges to the region and the international community.
