On 26 June 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, represented the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs in the 41st ASEAN - Japan Forum in Singapore. The Forum discussed preparations for the upcoming ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference (PMC) with Japan in July 2026, as well as ways to advance tangible cooperation under the ASEAN - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across the main three pillars, in line with the Joint Vision Statement on ASEAN - Japan Friendship and Cooperation.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary highlighted key areas to strengthen the “Heart-to-Heart Partnership Across Generations,” including (1) promoting youth and student exchanges through programmes such as JENESYS, SSEAYP, and scholarships; (2) enhancing cultural and creative industry cooperation through the WA Project 2.0; and (3) advancing human security, particularly in the areas of ageing societies and public health through the work of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI) and the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED).
