On 12 May 2013, the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid invited the highly venerable Thai Buddhist monks: Somdejphrawannarat from Wat Bavornnivet Temple, Phra Dhammakittivong from Wat Ratchaorot Temple, Phra  Atthakijkosol from Wat Praram Kao Temple, Phra Mahanayok, Phra Soponkanaporn and Phra Charan Pornkot from Wat Bavornnivet Temple to Barcelona for a meeting with the Thai community in Barcelona and Cataluña at the meeting room of Hotel Husa Arenas, Barcelona.

Somdejphrawannarat and Phra Dhammakittivong discussed Buddhist religious teachings regarding peaceful and harmonious coexistence between an individual and his/her society. The venerable monks also responded to the inquiries of the Thai community regarding the proper ways to establish a Thai Buddhist temple and how to extend an invitation to a Buddhist monk from Thailand to stay at the said temple. The venerable monks also reminded the Thai community of the challenges concerning the maintenance of a Thai Buddhist temple abroad. The Buddhist monks also emphasized that it is important for the Thai community to not only have goodwill but also social cohesion, cooperative spirit and the ability to dedicate their time to religious activities, if they want to establish a religious center or a Buddhist temple.

The meeting was attended by about 150 Thai persons, whom expressed appreciation at the opportunity to discuss Buddhist religious teachings and exchange views with the venerable Buddhist monks.
