Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow Fully Promotes Thai-Russia Educational Cooperation

The Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow’s Chargé d' Affaires a.i., Mrs. Nitaya Jessadachatr, extended a warm welcome for the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education, Mrs. Panita Kambhu na  Ayutthaya, and the Thai delegation at the Ambassador’s Residence on 10 June 2013. On this occasion, the Embassy arranged  the meeting between the ODOS students and the delegation to discuss and exchange views on the related educational issues. In addition, the delegation was received by the Director (same rank as Director-General in Thailand) of International Relations Department at the Russian Ministry of Education and Sciences  and the Vice Rectors of Saint Petersburg State University to discuss on possible exchanges of academic institutions, personnels, students, and language studies between Thailand and Russia, which benefited notably to the cooperation on education between the two countries.  The delegation  also had an opportunity to meet the Acting Director of Union of Saint Petersburg Chess Players at the Central Chess Club to confer about Russia’s expertise, approach, and teaching method so as to seek feasibility of including  Chess in academic curriculum.

Thailand is the first ASEAN country offering Russian language studies at the university level. Out of the 3 universities, namely, Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University, and Ramkamhang University, where the course is available, the first two also have Russian Center providing a one-stop service to arrange classes, training courses, consultation by experts, coordination, academic seminars, and information compilation about Russia.
