On Friday 5th July 2013, Mr. Chakri  Srichawana, Consul-General, together with Ms. Pratana Udommongkolkul, Consul, greeted Mr. Prakob Rattanapan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education of the House of Representatives and his delegation at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong. These 24 delegates paid a study visit to Macau Special Administrative Region and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) between 4 – 8 July 2013. The Consul-General gave them a briefing on the overview of HKSAR, covering social, cultural, economic and political aspects, followed by a discussion on educational co-operation, notably Thailand’s attempt to encourage Thai students to study in well-known universities in Hong Kong in their fields of expertise. Present at the discussion was also Ms. Pimsupang Boonperm, a Thai student at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who shared her experience about Hong Kong education system and her university’s efforts to increase the number of Thai students through the provision of scholarships. It is agreed that the high standard of HKSAR education should be promoted to the Thai public, since HKSAR could be another option for Thai students who want to pursue their studies abroad.
