On 2 September 2013, H.E. Mr.Surapon Petch-vra, Thai Ambassador to Chile, presided over the Inauguration Ceremony of the “Thai Film Festival in Chile” at Cineteca Nacional del Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda in Santiago.  About 200 people including dignitaries from diplomatic circle and Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Chile participated in the event.

During the ceremony, 5 Movies trailers; namely seven something, Laddaland, ATM Er Rak Error, Muaythai Chaiya, and Tangwong, were screened. Miss Pachara Poonsawat, a Thai singer living in Chile, was so kind to sing 2 songs; “Blue day”, composed by His Majesty the King and “Volver a los 17” before the film started. The cocktail reception with Thai traditional food was arranged for all participants. And Thai products were also given as souvenirs.

The “Thai Film Festival in Chile” was organized from 2-8 September 2013.  It is  aimed to promote a better understanding about Thailand and Thai culture as well as to reflect some aspects of real life of the Thais through the films.
