Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mumbai Office held “Amazing Thailand Medical & Wellness Product Presentation at Traders Hotel, Malé, Maldives, on 9 January 2014
The product presentation aimed to encourage the Maldivians to visit Thailand for medical treatment and wellness experience. In this connection, TAT Mumbai Office invited
Dr. Surapong Ampanwong, a leading physician and a top executive of private-run Phyathai Hospital in Bangkok to make a remark on “Medical and Health Treatment, Why Thailand?” and presented “Thailand World Destination for Medical Spa & Wellness Holiday” VDO to 50 participants from governmental and private sectors in Maldives such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Economic Development, Royal Thai Consulate in Malé, tour agencies and health insurance companies.
The event was promoted through the Maldivians press and media: DhiFM, DhiTV, TVM, VTV, RajjeTV and the Haveeru Daily newspaper.
Tourism Authority of Thailand sees the opportunity for medical and wellness tourism in Maldives. Presently, there are only 5 governmental and private hospitals in Malé: Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, ASL Medical Centre, Metro Medica Hospital, ADK Hospital, and Diabetes Society of Maldives, to serve 320,000 local Maldivians nationwide. This cannot meet the increasing demands of the local patients.
After the presentation ended, Allied Insurances, a Maldivians health insurance company, agrees to send their health insurance customers to Phayathai Hospital and around 6 participants in the event are also interested to have medical check-up and medical treatment in Thailand.
