On 5 March 2014, H.E. Mr. Chirachai Punkrasin, Thai Ambassador to Mexico, presented Diplomas to students of the Thai Cooking Course at Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana (UCSJ) in Mexico City. On this occasion, the Thai Embassy also presented students with books of Thai food recipes in Spanish language.
UCSJ had opened the Thai Cooking Course for the second time following the first course which was offered in 2013 as a joint project between UCSJ, the Thai Embassy, and the Thai Trade Center in Mexico. This year’s course was conducted by Chef Leticia Alexander, who received a scholarship from the Thai Embassy to study Thai culinary arts in Thailand last year. Given the positive reception of the Thai Cooking Course and interest from both Mexicans and foreigners residing in Mexico, UCSJ plans to open the course again in May 2014 and also has plans to offer a more advanced course in the future for students who wish to continue developing their skills in Thai cuisine.
