On 18 March 2014, the Department of Land Transport, Ministry of Transport of Thailand, hosted a seminar on Enhancing the Capacity of Road Freight Transport in Preparation for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), at Orchard Hotel, Singapore, in order to exchange knowledge and vision on regulations and emerging issues on the road freight transport industry between the public and private sectors of Thailand and Singapore. At the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Marut Jitpatima, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, delivered opening remarks, underlining that further cooperation between the two countries would aid mutual understanding and lead to sustainable growth of AEC toward 2015 and beyond, and Mr. Watana Phattharachon, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, extended a warm welcome to participants. The seminar was well attended by the Department of Land Transport, the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, Thammasat University, Kasetsart University, and 9 private firms and organizations from Thailand, as well as Land Transport Authority, International Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Logistics Association, and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport from Singapore.
