On 18 May 2014 H.E. Mr. Surapon Petch-vra, Thai Ambassador to Chile and his wife were invited to participate in the celebration of the International Buddhist Day (VESAK) organized by Buddhist Dissemination Institute (Institute de Difusión Budhista), and Buddhist community Foundation in Chile.  Approximately 300 Chileans who are interested in Buddhism attended the event.

On this occasion, the participants jointly paid the homage to the image of the Buddha, cited mantras, practiced meditation, and offered alms to the participated monks.

The Ambassador took this opportunity to talk about the Buddhist cultural trail which starts from India and prevails to various countries including Thailand. Buddhist culture varies from place to place but the core teaching of Buddhism never changes; that is for the eradication of suffering. Besides, the Ambassador also talked about the celebration of Visakha Puja Day of the Thais as well as of the world.
