On 16 August 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy, Mexico City, organized the Muay Thai Tournament and Seminar at Galerias Plaza de las Estrellas in Mexico City. The event was held as part of the activities to promote Thai culture and sports in Mexico. Thai boxer Dej Sri-ampai, now a trainer and owner of Muay Thai School in Los Angeles, was invited to speak at the seminar. Over 800 Muay Thai enthusiasts of all ages, male and female, participated in the event, which ended with a Thai buffet dinner sponsored by the Embassy. Mr. Paisit Boonparlit, Charges d’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy, presented trophies to the contestants as well as certificates to over 60 participating Muay Thai schools. In order to further promote Muay Thai in Mexico, on 17-19 August 2014, Master (Kru) Dej Sri-ampai visited a number of Muay Thai schools in Mexico City to hold workshops for Mexican boxers and trainers.
