On 17 Dec 2014, Consul-General Jackrid Kanjanasoon attended the opening ceremony of OTOP City 2014 at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Arena Exhibition, Muang Thong Thani. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Sutee Markboon, Deputy Minister of Interior under the concept of “Give New Year Happiness and Return Profit to People - OTOP City 2014, Thai Wisdom, Fabric and Festival Gifts” which express their loyalty to Her Majesty the Queen. 

 

            The honorary corps from various countries were invited to participate in this event. There was also an exhibition of the Ministry of Industry, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi and Department for Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine. The OTOP products had been selected to 5 stars OTOP from 76 provinces including Bangkok. The displayed products consisted of OTOP food and halal food from southern provinces featuring more than 2,500 booths with 10-30% price discounted. 

 

            The Royal Thai Consulate-General, Department of Community Development and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Kelantan has cooperated to promote Kelantan’s and Terengganu’s OTOP since year 2013 to help SME entrepreneurs from southern border provinces to sell their products in Malaysia market. At the same time, Consul-General took the opportunity to discuss with the department of Community Development on OTOP Festival 2015 in Kelantan and Terengganu as well.
