Promoting responsible and sustainable fishing is Thailand’s top policy priority. The current Thai Government is firmly committed to working with all stakeholders and international partners to combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing and advocate to build balanced and sustainable management of fishery resources.
Recognising that building norms and accountability across all relevant sectors is vital for the success of this policy agenda, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand will organise a seminar entitled “Fishing for the Future: Towards Responsible & Sustainable Fisheries in Thailand” on 7 July 2015, 09.00 – 12.30 hrs, at Pullman King Power Hotel, Bangkok.
The seminar will draw on the wealth of knowledge and experience of international organisations, Thai and foreign government agencies, private sector and civil society. Among the distinguished speakers at the seminar are international experts from the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Malta, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Kingdom. based Ethical Trading Initiative. The exchange of know-how and best practices on responsible and sustainable fishing at the seminar will significantly contribute to sustainable growth of Thai fishery industry in the future.
