During 1 – 4 July 2015, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil led Mrs. Puangthip Silpasart, Director General, Department of Mineral Fuels (DMF), Miss Nantika Thangsuphanich, Inspector General, Ministry of Energy, Mr. Bundit Chaisiboon, Vice President of Joint Venture – Exploration Project Department of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), Mr. Somkiat Thaeppunkulngam, General Manager, PTTEP Brazil - based in Rio de Janeiro and officials from the DMF to visit Rio de Janeiro to promote bilateral and technical cooperation in potential areas of mutual interest between the State of Rio de Janeiro and Thailand, such as Oil and Energy.
On 2 July 2015, Mr. Ambassador and his delegation met with Mrs. Magda Chambriard, Director General of National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). ANP is the federal government agency under the Ministry of Mines and Energy responsible for rules and regulations in the oil sector. It is also responsible for the inspection of oil and gas exploration and production activities, focusing on operational safety based on legislation applicable to contract – either for concession, production sharing or onerous assignment. Both sides held constructive discussions about the management system and the opportunity for the PTTEP to bid for the concession in Brazil.
Later, Mr. Ambassador and his delegation had a meeting with the economic and energy team of the State of Rio de Janeiro at the government house. They exchanged views on how to strengthen the bilateral relations and increase collaboration in all dimensions, be they commerce, investment, joint venture in oil and gas exploration and the promotion of Thailand through Roadshow.
On 3 July 2015, the Thai Ambassador and his delegation met and received briefings on the organizational structure and management system of Petrobras from the several managers of Petrobras at the head quarter. Moreover, a representative of the Centro de Pesquisas Leopoldo Amério Miguez de Mello or CENPES presented the responsibility of CENPES regarding research and development to support the Petrobras’s operation. Both sides exchanged views for further cooperation, especially in the area of Mineral Fuels, oil and gas and alternative energy.
