H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Madame will pay an official visit to Thailand at the invitation of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand on 23 July 2015. During the visit, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will co-chair the 3rd Thailand – Vietnam Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR). This official visit and the convening of the 3rd JCR are aimed at strengthening cordial relations under the Thailand – Vietnam Strategic Partnership and continuing the on-going momentum of cooperation in all dimensions for the mutual benefits of the peoples and the two countries.

The two Prime Ministers will hold bilateral talks in the morning of 23 July 2015.  Topics of discussion will include labour cooperation, promotion of investment, expansion of bilateral trade, cooperation on agricultural products, cooperation in fishing, development of transport and connectivity, and cooperation on regional and international issues.

After the bilateral meeting, the two Prime Ministers will co-chair the 3rd Thailand – Vietnam JCR, which will be attended by the Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers concerned of both sides. The discussion will focus on ways to enhance cooperation in key areas of mutual interests such as defense cooperation, cooperation on combatting transnational crimes, especially anti-drugs trafficking and human trafficking, facilitation of trade and investment, opening of scheduled bus services, development of coastal shipping for transport of goods and peoples, cooperation on the exchange of languages, cultures, and sports, tourism cooperation, and cooperation between provinces of the two countries.

On this occasion, the two Prime Ministers will witness the signing of five documents, which are: (1) Joint Statement of the 3rd JCR (2) Memorandum of Understanding on Labour Cooperation (3) Agreement on the Employment of Workers (4) Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Friendship between Ubon Ratchathani and Kon Tum, and (5) Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Friendship between Trat and Long An.  The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand will also host a luncheon in honour of the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and his delegation.

During the visit, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will give remarks at an investment seminar on “Thailand – Vietnam Enterprise Dialogue” hosted by Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Board of Investment. Around 30 Vietnamese businessmen, who will accompany Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on this visit to Thailand, will attend the said seminar and engage in business matching and networking with Thai private sectors.
