On 15 September 2015, H.E. Mr. Arthayuth Srisamoot, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, as Head of Delegation, delivered Thailand’s national statement at the 59th Session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held at the Vienna International Centre from 14-18 September 2015. The key message was Thailand’s reaffirmation of its continued support to the work of the Agency in the areas of nuclear safety, security and safeguards as well as technical cooperation relating to the peaceful applications of nuclear technology. In addition, Thailand informed the Conference of its efforts and actions on those related matters at the national, regional and international levels. Also reflected were the major achievements and setbacks witnessed by the international community in the past year, including the historic achievement of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action between E3/EU+3 and Iran on Iran’s nuclear program and the inability of the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons to produce an outcome document.
