On 11 January 2016, H.E. Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand after he attended Symposium on Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence in Multicultural Societies co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) of the OIC.

On this occasion, both sides agreed to reaffirm their cordial relations and enhance their cooperation including the export promotion of Thai Halal product and food; cooperation in health particularly the production of vaccine and the promotion of medical tourism.
