Thai Mission visited Tonga for The First Project Steering Committee of Agricultural Development Cooperation Project based on Sufficiency Economy between Kingdom of Tonga and Kingdom of Thailand

During 31 January - 5 February 2016, Mr. Singtong Lapisatepun, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) led Thai delegation to attend the first Project Steering Committee (PSC) of Agricultural Development Cooperation Project based on Sufficiency Economy between Kingdom of Tonga and Kingdom of Thailand in Nuku’alofa Tonga.

The meeting was hosted by Mrs. Losaline Ma’asi, CEO Ministry of Agricultural, Food, Forests and Fisheries and comprised representatives from Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Palace Office. The meeting was to review the concept paper and reached common agreements on management issues.

In this regard, Tonga side held the launching of the Project at The Villa, Royal Residence. On this occasion HRH Crown Prince Tupouto’s Ulukalala presided over the lunching ceremony.

In addition, The Thai delegation paid a courtesy call on the high executive of Ministries as follows:

- Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thai delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr.Va’inga Tone CEO, to brief the result of the PSC meeting and confirm the project will start the implementation in the first quarter of 2016.

- Thai delegation paid a courtesy call on Ms. Moana Taukol, CEO of Ministry of Commerce and Labor at Ministry of Commerce and Labor to discuss on the Ministry’s request for development project from Thailand on SME development.

- Thai delegation paid a courtesy call on the representative of Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Tonga to discuss and exchange views on International Development Cooperation to Tonga.
