Thai Ambassador to Brazil led the Brazilian Business Mission to Thailand

            During 22 - 27 February 2016, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador to Brazil led Mr. Flavio Castelar, Director of  Ethanol Cluster of Local Productive Arrangement of Alcohol (Arranjo Produtivo Local do Álcool - ALPA) and the leading businesspersons from ethanol, agro-industrial and gold companies as well as media to visit Thailand. The visit included meetings with various Thai public and private agencies and associations. Some participants also attended the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair 2016 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok.      
 
            During the visit, the Ambassador and the Brazilian Delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Suvit Maesincee, Deputy Minister of Commerce. The Minister extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed support for economic cooperation as well as trade and investment between Thailand and Brazil, especially in the fields of sugar and ethanol promotion as well as the gems and jewelry.  
 
            Mr. Ambassador also led the Brazilian Delegation to meet and discuss with traders and high-level Representatives of the Board of Sugar cane, the National Science and Technology Development Agency, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, the Federal Industries of Thailand and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand. They also met several executives of many Thai leading companies, such as, PTT Public Company Limited, Bangchak Petroleum Public Company Limited and Mitr Phol Sugar Group. 
 
            The visit was expected to not only promote the collaboration of ethanol industry and sugar-related business, but also lead to more trade in gems and jewelry between the two countries, thereby increasing Thailand’s economic competitiveness.
