On 9 March 2016, Consul-General DusitManapanattended the Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly 2016 General Meeting at New Miyako Hotel, Kyoto. Mr. Yoshihiro Ueda, Chairman of the Kyoto Prefectural Assembly and Mr. Shuichi Yamauchi, Vice Governor of Kyoto Prefecture also attended the meeting.
The Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assembly, with Mr. Masaharu Murata as the chairman,has 42 members. In closecoordination with the Japan – the bilateral relations between Thailand and Japan. On 9 October 2016, it will organize an event called “Thai Culture Fair in Kyoto 2016” at the Kyoto International Conference Center to promote Thai culture in Kyoto.
In his remarksduring the opening session, Consul-General Dusitemphasized thehistorical importance of Kyoto. Moreover, Kyoto is famous worldwide for its rich beautiful tourist attractions. It is also a good role model in the area of modern development while being able to preserve the environment and culture in a balanced manner.Kyoto is also important for Thailand-Japan bilateral relations. Co-operation between Thailand and Kyoto coversbroad areas. Thai delegations of various levels have visited Kyoto regularly. Recently, on 29 February, Consul-General Dusitaccompanied a group of delegates from the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences – iCeMS) of Kyoto University to Thailand to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology(VISTEC) in RayongProvince, Thailand. The Consul-General also emphasizedhis readiness to work closely with the Japan-Thailand Friendship Association of Kyoto Prefectural Assemblyin strengthening the close and cordial friendship between Thailand and Japan.
