On 9 June 2016 Royal Thai Embassy, Manila, in cooperation with the Asian Institue of Management (AIM) and the Philippine - Thai Cultural Organization (PTCO) organized a roundtable discussion on "Sufficiency Economy: A Pathway to Sustainable Development" to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the Seventieth Anniversary Celebration of His Majesty the King Accession to the Throne at Asian Institue of Management (AIM). The organizers received an honour from His Excellency Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand to deliver the Keynote Speech and to be one of the panelists. Other panelists consisted of Honourable Linglingay Lacanlale, Undersecretary for Administration, Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines and Former Ambassador of Philippines to Thailand; Dr. Ernesto Pernia, Economist and PTCO Member; Professor Federico Macaranas, Faculty Member of AIM; Dr. Sunantar Setboonsang, Economist of the Asian Development Bank in the Philippines; and Ms. Ivy Avelino, Head of Banayon Elementary School in Leyte. Professor Juan Miguel Luz, School Head, AIM Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management and Ms. Elena Pernia, Dean of Faculty of Journalism, University of the Philippines and PTCO member joined the event as moderator and MC respectively.
The event was attended by more than 150 participants from members of Team Thailand, Diplomatic Corps, academics, Philippine government officials, and university students as well as media.
