During 15 - 16 December 2016 the national weight lifting team from Thailand comprising Dr. Sirilak Thatman, referee; Ms. Annipa Moontar, Thailand National Team coach; and two athletes - Ms. Duangaksorn Chaidee and Mr. Tinnaphop Kanrawangchai participated in the 4th Qatar Cup 2016 Weight Lifting Competition at the Intercontinental Hotel, Doha.

          H. E. Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Ambassador of Thailand, officials of the Embassy and members of the Thai community in Qatar attended and cheered Thailand’s weight lifting team, with Ms. Duangaksorn Chaidee participated in the weight class +75 kg. and Mr. Tinnaphop Kanrawangchai in the weight class 105  kg. After the competition, the Thai Ambassador was invited on stage by the organizer to present the gold medal to the winner of the women’s +75 kg. class from Egypt and congratulate Ms. Duangaksorn Chaidee for winning the silver medal in this class.

           On 17 December 2016, H. E. Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum hosted lunch at the Ambassador’s residence to welcome and thank them for representing Thailand in the said competition.
