In response to recent floods caused by heavy downpours since July 2018 in various parts of Myanmar, including Kayin State, Mon State, Taninthayi Region and Bago Region, the Royal Thai Government made a contribution of 3 million Baht to the Myanmar Government in support of its ongoing emergency relief efforts.

On 6 August 2018, H.E. Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, presented such contribution to H.E. U Myo Myint Than, Ambassador of Myanmar to Thailand, at the Government House. On this occasion, Prime Minister Prayut also reiterated his deep condolences and sympathy to the Myanmar Government and the people of Myanmar, particularly those affected by the floods, and wished for a quick recovery from this natural disaster.

As a close friend and immediate neighbor, Thailand stands ready to render further assistance to the Myanmar Government for post-flood rehabilitation in the affected areas.
