H.E. Mr. Chaisiri Anamarn, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Thai delegation, attended the Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) during 10 – 11 December 2018 in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco. The Conference was attended by high-level representatives of the United Nations including the United Nations Secretary-General, the President of the 73rd Session of the General Assembly, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for International Migration as well as Heads of State, Heads of Government, and Ministers and high-level representatives from over 160 countries. Representatives of international organisations, local authorities, private sector, civil society, and representatives of migrants were also present at the Conference.
The Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered remarks at every session of the meeting. During the Plenary session, he reaffirmed Thailand’s support for GCM, based on a balanced approach to security, development and human rights as well as on the basis of cooperation with the international community and all stakeholders. During the Dialogue sessions, he shared views on the effective implementation of the GCM at the national and sub-national, regional and global levels, as well as on building multi-stakeholder partnerships to achieve this goal in the long term. On 10 December 2018, the Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered remarks at the High-level event to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
