Thai Ambassador made a courtesy call to the Secretary-General of the IMO to introduce Thailand’s Alternate Permanent Representative to the IMO

On Tuesday 9 April 2019, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata, and the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) made a courtesy call upon H.E. Mr. Kitack Lim, Secretary-General of the IMO to introduce Mr. Watchara Chiemanukulkit, Maritime Attaché/Minister Counsellor (Maritime) of the Royal Thai Embassy, London.  He also took this opportunity to inform the Secretary-General of the IMO of Thailand’s decision to stand for re-election for the IMO Council Category C for the term 2020 – 2021 and reiterated Thailand’s commitment to the promotion of active engagement of Thailand to the work of the IMO.

On this occasion, the IMO Secretary-General welcomed the Thai Maritime Attaché and expressed his confidences of Thailand’s role in the context of the IMO, for Thailand’s coordinating voice for Asia, and for Thailand’s potential to connect the IMO to various regional organizations such as ESCAP and ASEAN etc.
