On 12 – 14 May 2025, Miss Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, as Thailand's APEC Senior Official, attended the Second APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (APEC SOM2/2025) and related meetings in Jeju, Republic of Korea. During the same period, the Republic of Korea also hosted 3 separate Sectoral Ministerial Meetings on Human Resources Development, Education, and Trade under this year’s overarching theme of “Building a Sustainable Tomorrow” and priorities: “Connect, Innovate, Prosper.”

APEC economies discussed the importance of the multilateral trading system, and the trade and investment environment. They also explored leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing demographic challenges, advancing digital literacy, and promoting sustainability. Thailand reiterated its commitment to regional cooperation and economic integration, including its efforts on sustainability through the implementation of the Bangkok Goals on the BCG Economy, responsible use of AI and discussion on AI ethics, as well as preparation for demographic challenges in the Asia-Pacific region for future demographic shift.
