ASEAN-Australia Special Summit to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations

H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to accompany H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance to attend the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations on 4-6 March 2024 in Melbourne, the Commonwelth of Australia, at the invitation of the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of Australia. The Special Summit will discuss how ASEAN and Australia can advance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), particularly in areas of economic cooperation and green energy transition, as well as exchange views on common strategic challenges in the region and beyond.

 

During the visit, the Prime Minister will have bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of Australia, and other Leaders. In addition, the Prime Minister will have a number of meetings with executives of leading Australian companies in mining, green energy, transportation, and logistics sectors as well as Thailand’s other targeted industries.

 

Australia was the first country to establish Dialogue Relations with ASEAN in 1974. The Relations was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2014 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations. In 2021, Australia was among the first dialogue partners to establish a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN.
