On 8 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined a bilateral meeting between H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Republic of the Philippines.

This is the first meeting between the two leaders since the assumption of their respective offices. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advance the Thailand-Viet Nam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussed upcoming high-level visits this year which coincides with the 50th anniversary of Thailand-Viet Nam diplomatic relations. The two leaders also discussed ways to encourage more trade and investment, particularly in key sectors, such as banking, aviation and defence.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional issues, including development cooperation in the Mekong sub-region and the Thailand-Cambodia border situation.
