On 2 November 2026, Mrs. Chatvadee Chindawongse, Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, met with H.E. Ms. Nicola Pollitt, British Ambassador to Thailand. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen ASEAN-UK relations, including on artificial intelligence (AI), which is one of the UK’s priority areas, and enhance cooperation under the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), especially in the area of maritime security, transnational crime and disaster relief. They also exchanged views on key regional developments.

The UK became Dialogue Partner of ASEAN in 2021 and Thailand will serve as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-UK Dialogue Relations for the term of 2027-2030, which will overlap with Thailand's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028.
