On 28 May 2025, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, delivered opening remarks at an event titled “ASEAN Gender Outlook: From Insights to Action — Harnessing Gender Data for Inclusive Policy and Decision-Making in Support of ASEAN Community Vision 2045” together with the Secretary-General of ASEAN, the Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), and UN Women Indonesia Country Representative and Liaison to ASEAN, as Thailand is the ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation and co-organizer of the event.

The event aimed to promote the second edition of the ASEAN Gender Outlook, a flagship report jointly developed by UN Women, the ASEAN Secretariat, and the ASEAN Committee on Women. The report assesses ASEAN’s progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular emphasis on gender equality for women and girls, as well as supporting the achievement of SDG 5: Gender Equality.

The event featured a panel discussion with academics and experts from ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Dialogue Partners, the ASEAN Secretariat, and UN Women, who exchanged views and recommendations on the collection and use of gender-based statistical data for evidence-based analysis of access to and benefits from policy implementation. The discussion aimed to promote concrete and sustainable actions in advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, ensuring that no one is left behind.

The event received significant interest from the diplomatic corps of ASEAN Member States and foreign missions, international organizations and agencies based in Jakarta, as well as organizations outside Jakarta who joined virtually. In total, over 100 participants attended both in person and online.
