On 13 July 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, along with Mr. Naruchai Ninnad, Consul-General of Thailand in Sydney, visited the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Site in Newcastle, which is where the CSIRO Energy Centre is located. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Dietmar Tourbier, Director, Energy, CSIRO, Mr. Scott McGarry, Deputy Site Leader, and Mr. Gavin Cross, Group Leader, Energy Systems, who provided an overview of the Centre’s work and a guided tour of its facilities.

During the visit, the delegation received a briefing on the Energy Centre’s role in research and development on energy technologies, power systems, and Australia’s energy transition, as well as discussed existing and potential cooperation, including ongoing collaboration between the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and CSIRO to advance integration of renewable energy sources, enhance grid stability and support Thailand’s energy transition. The delegation also toured the Centre’s laboratories and research facilities supporting the development, testing, and demonstration of a wide range of energy technologies, including solar energy, energy storage systems, alternative fuel technologies, and power system simulation, which is used to test and evaluate the performance of energy technologies under real-world operating conditions.
