Chargé d’Affaires Welcomes BIOTEC Delegation to Advance Thailand–Australia Research Cooperation

On 11 August 2026, Ms. Jitvipa Benjasil, Chargé d’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, welcomed Dr. Chawree Atthalongkorn, Director of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), and delegation during their visit to Australia to attend the Steering Committee meeting of the Biologics and Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing in Thailand for Equitable Access to Medicines (BPM-TEAM) project at CSIRO Clayton in Melbourne. The delegation also visited CSIRO research facilities and discussed opportunities for cooperation at Bribie Island and Black Mountain in Canberra.

On this occasion, they discussed opportunities to further cooperation in pharmaceutical and biologics research and development, as well as potential areas of collaboration in agricultural biotechnology and aquaculture between and among relevant agencies in Thailand and Australia. The discussions also underscored the potential of science, technology and innovation to contribute to medicine, health and food security, while further strengthening Thailand-Australia cooperation in science, research and innovation.
