On May 9, 2025, Mrs. Katanawadee Kalayanamit, Consul-General, Chicago;

Ms. Chuliepote Isarankura Na Ayudhaya, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.; and Mrs. Natnapang Damrongsoontornchai, Deputy Consul-General, along with representatives from the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans and the Thai community, visited Rochester, Minnesota.

The delegation met with Dr. Ashokakumar M. Patel, a pulmonologist at the Mayo Clinic—one of the most renowned hospitals in the United States—for a briefing on the clinic’s history, medical services, Advanced Digital Education team and advancements in medical innovation and technology. During the visit, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General also discussed potential areas for enhancing medical and academic cooperation.

Following the visit, the delegation attended a luncheon with Ms. Kim Norton, Mayor of Rochester, and Dr. Stacey A. Rizza, Infectious Disease Specialist and Executive Medical Director, International Practice and Asia Pacific at Mayo Clinic. The meeting aimed to strengthen relationships and explore opportunities for expanded economic, cultural, and academic collaboration between Thailand, the City of Rochester, and the Mayo Clinic further.
