The Royal Kathina Ceremony marks a special time of the year when Buddhists gather to support the livelihood of the Buddhist monks under the royal auspices of His Majesty the King with a view to fostering Buddhism in foreign countries. The event also takes part in strengthening the Thai community in the United States as well as enhancing friendship between Thais and locals.
