On 23 June 2026, Ms. Cataleya Phatoomros, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, attended the World Refugee Day: UNHCR and Mayors for Peace Children’s Art Exhibition in Thailand 2026, co-organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Thailand and Mayors for Peace to commemorate World Refugee Day, at EMSPHERE. The event brought together participants from the government, international organizations, civil society, and representatives of embassies from countries supporting humanitarian assistance for displaced persons.

The Deputy Director-General jointly delivered opening remarks alongside Ms. Tammi Sharpe, UNHCR Representative in Thailand, H.E. Mr. Kasit Piromya, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Special Advisor for Mayors for Peace, and H.E. Mr. Masato Otaka, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand. The Deputy Director-General highlighted Thailand’s progress in implementing the policy allowing Myanmar Displaced Persons (MDPs) to work outside temporary shelters, including the issuance of identity cards to the group. This marks an important milestone in strengthening the care and protection of MDPs. She also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the sustainable implementation of the policy.

The event also featured the debut of the song “Home” by Mr. Boyd Kosiyabong in commemoration of this year’s World Refugee Day. The accompanying art exhibition, showcasing children’s perspectives on peace, including works by displaced children, is open to the public from 24 - 28 June 2026 at EMSPHERE.
