Director-General of American and South Pacific Affairs Department meets with the Ambassador of Peru to Thailand

On 8 May 2026, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, met with H.E. Ms. Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazán, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand, who paid a farewell call on the occasion of the completion of her tenure.

The Director-General extended her appreciation and commended the Ambassador’s active role throughout her term in Thailand, which helped advance bilateral relations between Thailand and Peru across all dimensions, particularly in advancing the conclusion of a comprehensive Thailand - Peru Free Trade Agreement within 2026, strengthening technical cooperation, and enhancing people-to-people connections. The Director-General also expressed appreciation for Peru’s support in co-sponsoring the 2025 Bangkok Joint Statement by the Global Partnership against Online Scams.

Ambassador Cecilia reaffirmed the strong ties shared between the two countries at both the multilateral and bilateral levels, noting that the two countries celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year. She also expressed her appreciation for the friendship extended to her by the Thai people throughout her tenure.
