On 10 August 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, chaired a meeting with relevant national security agencies to prepare for Thailand’s participation in the Third Review Conference of the State Parties of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) held under the theme “Accelerating progress towards a world free from the threat of cluster munitions” from 14 to 18 September 2026 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
The meeting reaffirmed Thailand’s position as an observer to the Convention in supporting the humanitarian principles underpinning the Convention and other disarmament conventions to which Thailand is a State Party as well as in strictly adhering to international law and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in all aspects. These include, in particular, the principles of distinction, proportionality, precaution, and military necessity.
