On 19 June 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, had discussions with H.E. Mr. Margulan Baimukhan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Thailand and Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), to exchange views on issues of mutual interest within the framework of the United Nations. Both sides welcomed progress in relations between Thailand and Kazakhstan, as well as exchanged views on efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the United Nations and cooperation in combating online scam-related crimes.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan sought Thailand’s support on the proposal by the President of Kazakhstan to establish an international water organization under the auspices of the United Nations, which aims to enhance efficiency, reduce duplication of efforts, and strengthen coordination of the global water agenda, particularly at a time when water-related issues are becoming increasingly important and many countries are facing diverse water-related challenges. Kazakhstan noted Thailand’s strong, effective, and action-oriented foreign policy. The Director-General reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and underscored Thailand’s support for the principles of good water governance and sound management of water resources.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan also expressed appreciation for Thailand’s support for various Kazakh initiatives within ESCAP, including the establishment of the Asian and Pacific Digital Solutions Centre for Sustainable Development.
