On 20 July 2026, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Darkey Ephraim Africa, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Thailand.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting bilateral relations between Thailand and South Africa at all levels. They discussed ways to further enhance trade and investment, as well as cooperation in potential areas, particularly tourism, public health, education, and combatting online scam. These issues will be discussed further under the existing bilateral consultation mechanisms, including the Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, to drive forward cooperation between Thailand and South Africa.
