Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs meets with Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Thailand

On 29 September 2026, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, met with H.E. Mrs. Betty Oyella Bigombe, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Thailand with residence in Kuala Lumpur, to discuss ways to further strengthen relations and cooperation between Thailand - Uganda, particularly in the areas of economic and development cooperation.

The Director-General expressed appreciation to the Ambassador for Uganda’s support for “The Colours of Africa 2026” event, held on 28 September 2026, and congratulated the Ugandan Government on the declaration of the end of the Ebola virus disease outbreak in the country. The Director-General also informed the Ambassador of the Thai Government’s contribution of USD 30,000 made on 28 August 2026 to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to support response efforts to the Ebola outbreak. The Ambassador expressed concern over the flood situation in Thailand and welcomed Thailand’s hosting of the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in October this year.
