On 3 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Ms. Pornprapai Ganjanarintr, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) and members of the Commission.

Both sides exchanged views on human rights issues in such areas as migrants, Myanmar displaced persons and transboundary human rights issues, including online scams and water pollution as well as the human rights of older persons, the situation in the Southern Border Provinces (SBPs) and eastern border provinces, and access to justice, as well as promoting human rights within the ASEAN framework – particularly in light of Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028.

The two sides also exchanged views on Thailand’s application for membership of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), particularly on enhancing Thailand’s efforts in promoting responsible business conduct and addressing corruption.

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of enhancing engagement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the NHRCT to support Thailand’s efforts on the promotion and protection of human rights at the domestic level and international fora.
