H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to visit New York to attend the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) open debate on “Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-Centered International System” under the agenda item “Maintenance of international peace and security” on 26 May 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The open debate will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China in the capacity of China’s Presidency of the Council for the month of May 2026.
 
This upcoming UNSC open debate will provide an important platform for Thailand to present its vision and exchange views with the Council’s members and other participating Member States of the United Nations. On this occasion, Thailand will reaffirm its constructive role and unwavering commitment to upholding the UN-centered international system amid geopolitical challenges.
 
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will also hold bilateral meetings with high-level representatives from participating Member States at the sidelines of the UNSC open debate.
