Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to pay a visit to the Russian Federation

H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to pay a visit to the Russian Federation during 12 - 15 August 2026, to co-chair the 9th Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JC) Thailand - Russia and meet with high-level representatives, as well as advance the Government’s economic diplomacy agenda to boost trade and investment between the two countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with H.E. Mr. Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Aleksey Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, H.E. Mr. Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission and Mr. Ivan Demchenko, Chairman of the Russian - Thai Business Council (RTBC). He will hold a bilateral meeting with the H.E. Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, to discuss bilateral issues and sign the Plan of Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in 2026 - 2028. He will also lead a business delegation, comprising 6 leading Thai companies, to attend the 9th Thailand - Russia JC meeting and discuss expanding cooperation with their Russian counterparts.

Thailand and Russia have enjoyed longstanding relations. Russia is Thailand’s largest trading partner within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Russian tourists are ranked as the highest number from Europe. Both countries will commemorate the 130th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 2027.
