On 14 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, on the sidelines of the 2026 BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi.
 
Both sides welcomed the elevation of Thailand – India relations to a strategic partnership in April 2026 and discussed promoting connectivity between the two countries, including the Land Bridge project and India’s infrastructure development in the Indian Ocean, as well as cooperation in security, defence, and the defence industries. They also discussed advancing economic and trade cooperation within the ASEAN – India framework.
 
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar and agreed on the necessity of constructive engagement based on practical realities, with Thailand proposing the approach of calibrated re-engagement. They further discussed regional developments, particularly maritime security and the situation in the Middle East, including assistance provided to commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
