The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs discussed with the Ambassador of the DPRK to Thailand, promoting friendship and exchanging views on the the Korean Peninsula and COVID-19 situation, and the outcome of 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea meeting, during an introductory call on the Permanent Secretary by the Ambassador of the DPRK to Thailand.

On 16 February 2021, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, welcomed and had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Kim Je Bong, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to Thailand, in an introductory call by the ambassador. The Ambassador of the DPRK briefed on important developments in the DPRK, including the outcome of the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea meeting in January 2021, and reaffirmed the DPRK government’s commitment to promoting friendship between the DPRK and Thailand. Exchanging views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs noted that, as a member of the international community, Thailand wished to see peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, which would contribute to the stability and security of the region at large. Both sides also discussed the COVID-19 situation in Thailand and the DPRK.
